- Six Trait of Effective Leaders. This section begins with describing what a leader does in his role w.r.t vision, goals and people. It includes the definition of leadership as a state of mind that brings the above role together. There are Six traits that makes a leader effective. This section discusses those six traits of an effective leader; drive, desire to lead, integrity, self confidence, intelligence and job relevant knowledge.
- Managerial Grid of Leaders. This section discusses the famous Blake and Mouton Managerial Grid for Leaders. The various styles are explained for a leader and each styles outcome is discussed w.r.t concern for people and concern for tasks.
- Contingency Model of Leadership. The contingency model states that there is no one best style of leadership. Instead, a leader's effectiveness is based on the situation. This section references the contingency model of leadership considering two contingency factors namely; Environmental contingency and Employee Contingency. Keeping these two contingency factors in mind the leader has a choice of 4 types of behavior to achieve his outcomes of Performance and Satisfaction. These Leadership behaviors are Directive, Supportive, Participative, and Achievement Oriented. Each of these is explained in this section.
- High Performing Leaders. This section discusses the elements that create high performance leadership for leaders. There are in all 5 elements that put together create leaders who are effective. These elements are Leaders acting in certain roles of Vision creators, team builders, task allocators, people developers, and motivation stimulators.
- Leader in the role of a Vision Creator. A leader’s role as a vision creator covers 4 steps creating vision, setting goals, developing action plan, and monitoring action plan execution. Each of the 4 steps are explained.
- Leader in the role of a Team Builder. A leader’s role as a team builder involves balancing the tasks and people relationship and thus developing and nurturing a great team. Learn about the 5 ways in which an effective leader builds a great team.
- Leader in the role of a Task Allocator. A leader’s role as Task allocator involves delegating tasks to people. This role covers the meaning of delegation, what to delegate, whom to delegate the task to. The 5 steps to delegate effectively are explained here.
- Leader in the role of a People Developer. A leader’s role as a people developer involves developing other leaders and not just followers. A leader does this through utilizing the employee development and learning plan, explained in this section of the slides.
- Leader in the role of a Motivation Stimulator. A leader’s role as a motivator is as important as every other role mentioned in this slide deck. After setting the vision and establishing the goal the success of an organization or a team in being able achieve those goals and fulfill that visions depends on how the leader inspires and motivates his team that helps them execute the plan.
