Workshop Objectives & Schedule. This workshop is based on Transforming HR - From Staff Function to Strategic Business Partnership.
The HR Framework for Today. This first section looks at HR from the viewpoint of a business function. Seeing from this perspective it brings out the failure of HR as a function in developing talent that the business requires. The biggest HR Challenge is that it is not able to change and adapt itself to the business environment. This is a good point that is established for introducing the Strategic Business Partner (SBP) Framework.
Strategic Business Partner (SBP) Framework. The SBP framework consists of 4 concepts. They are 3 Kinds of HR Work Activities, the Need Hierarchy, Translating Business Needs into Human Performance Requirements, Identifying the True Client. The 3 Kinds of HR Work Activities include Transactional HR Activity, Tactical HR Activity, And Strategic HR Activity. The Need Hierarchy includes Business needs, performance needs, and work environment & capability needs. Translating Business Needs into Human Performance Requirements by asking the right questions that uncover strategic opportunities and using the G A P S Model (discussed in the tools section of this slide deck). The final concept of Identifying the True Client describes the criteria for knowing who the true client is. With the above in place the Framework for the New HR is established as that of Strategic Business Partners Model or the SBP Model.
Building Client Partnerships. This second section covers SBP Model based on Access, Credibility, and Trust. The first step to applying the model is about gaining access to clients, gaining credibility and gaining trust. The section discusses the difference between Solutions v Results and how a SBP plays the role Integrator between Hr technology and business requirements linking the two. It further discusses what skillsets the SBP’s need to have and what do they need to know about the business. It explores how an SBP can gain Business Knowledge, HR Knowledge I - Foundational Competence, HR Knowledge II - Second Level Competence and Apply Business & HR Knowledge.
Strategic HR Techniques. This third section looks at Strategic techniques that further helps apply the SBP model. It starts with understanding strategic opportunities, Reframe Requests, Proactive identification, and Kicking Off When the Client Says "Yes". It further discusses data & best solution, Performance Model, Competency Model, Process Model, Gap Analysis, Cause Analysis and Implementation Tool – GRIP.
