- What Are Habits? This section on the foundation principles starts with addressing the question ‘what are habits?’ It explains how closely habits affect our character and ultimately character determines our overall effectiveness or ineffectiveness in life. The Thought-Action-Habit-Character-Destiny Link visually depicts this connection. Thus it is important to cultivate the habits that will bring you to where you want to be in life and let you become who and what you want to be. The 3 Components Of Habit (that make up habit) - Knowledge, Skill, Desire, are explained.
- Principles - Govern Values and Habits. The 7 habits are based on principles. This section explains what principles are and questions us whether our habits and values are aligned with our principles.
- Character Vs. Personality. This section offers a distinction between personality and character. Before trying to be effective with other one needs to work on their own development of character.
- Paradigm - Our Mental Maps. This is the most important section and fundamentally the most essential of the foundational principles of Steven covey’s 7 habits of highly effective people. Find out what Paradigms are and how they affect everything about us. Understand what they are, where they come from and how the Social Mirror impacts out paradigms. Paradigms greatly impact our Attitudes and Behaviors that flow out from us and shape our thoughts, actions and reality.
- Emotional Bank Account. This section introduces another fundamental principle of emotional bank account. This emotional bank account is connected with how we maintain our human relationships. Learn about what withdrawals and deposits one needs to make into this emotional bank account.
- Effectiveness and the P/PC Balance. This section talks about Effectiveness as a foundational principle that needs to be balanced by production of desired results (getting what you want) and production capability (in a way that enables you to get what you want over and over again).
- Maturity Continuum. This section introduces the concept of Maturity Continuum which is the main Model for the 7 Habits of highly Effective people. This model offers a glimpse at how the 7 habits fit into one model comprising of 3 stages of Maturity Continuum - Dependence, Independence, Interdependence and to what cluster each of the 7 habits belong.
- The 7 Habits Overview. This section gives you an overview starting with Becoming Independent - The 1st triangle of Private Victory which includes Habit 1 - Be Proactive, Habit 2 - Begin With The End in Mind, Habit 3 - Putting First Things First. These Habits lead to Independence. Next is Becoming Interdependent - The 2nd triangle of The Public Victory which includes Habit 4 - Think Win-Win, Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood, Habit 6 - Synergize.
