    2. Managing Project Conflict. This slide deck is dedicated to the concept of conflict management. It looks at what conflict is, the sources of conflict in IT projects, covers how to respond to conflict. It also suggests conflict handling styles and grievance handling strategies. It also covers stress management within the context of work environment. This is essential knowledge for a Project manager to facilitate his leadership skills, build and keep an effective and productive team, and in managing performance.
    3. Nature of Conflict. Whenever different groups or individuals interact ideas are shared. As s result of interacting and sharing different ideas, it is likely that the groups involved may perceive a severe threat to their personal or collective goals. The section further discusses the sources of conflict.
    4. Sources of Conflict. Bisno in 1988 stated there are 5 sources of conflict. They are Biosocial, Personality and interactional, Structural, Cultural and ideological, and Convergence sources. Similarly, in a Project there are three sources of conflict. They are projects schedules, project priorities, and workforce. The section further explores the components of conflict and consequences of conflict. The components of conflict include values, interest and emotions. A project manager must tackle the emotional issues first to begin working on resolving the conflict. The good side and the bad side of consequences of conflict. It mentions the consulting diamond that can be used to deal with conflict issues on a project.
    5. Responding to Conflict. This section covers a very important part of conflict management i.e. Conflict Handling Styles. There are 5 different conflict handing styles and they must be sued as per the situation and the problem faced. The 5 conflict handling styles are Avoiding, Compromise, Competition, Accommodation, and Collaboration style. Each style’s characteristics are listed alongwith a recommendation on when to use them. Additionally the two methods for Resolving Conflict are also discussed - Role Clarification Technique and Intergroup Conflict Resolution.
    6. Handling Grievances. This section discusses a very important aspect of human nature- grievance. Grievance results when a team member feels that any behavior or action of other team members is unfair to them and thus it begins having a negative impact on the team remember. A project manager must setup a grievance redressal system. He must listen to team members, discuss the grievance, and resolve it by planning for future action that redresses the cause of grievance.
    7. Emotional Stress. This section deals with Stress management. It begins with what is stress management and its effects. It further goes into causes of stress in projects.
