- Competency Based Training and Career Development. Part One of this slide deck is Competency Modeling. It begins with answering the question What is a Competency? It differentiates between traits and behavior. The later is a key part on which competencies are based as assessment of behaviors can bring valid results that can be translated into effective, objective HR Development programs. The next question that is answered in the series is What makes a Competency valid. The section further expands into discussing the benefits of a competency framework.
- Competency Framework Design. Explained under the section of competency modeling, the competency framework design shows the interrelatedness of the competency areas covering all job families within an organization setup. There are essentially 4 Competency areas that form the framework design. They are Core Competencies, People Competencies, Technical Competencies, and Administrative Competencies. Each of these a clearly described. The section end with describing the 5 steps to Designing Competency Models.
- Competency Based Training and Career Development - Training Needs Analysis and Planning. This is Part Two of the slide deck and discusses the training needs analysis and planning in organizations. The section begins with a example of an Organization-wide Competency Model that shows Core competencies defined for a given organization. The Training Needs Analysis Model is showcased as the information model that broadly covers all the necessary information required to design Training & Development Plans. From Organizational Support, to organizational analysis, to requirement analysis, job analysis, to person analysis. In addition to the above, a clear step by step picture is given of how training needs can be assessed and what must be considered as useful data in the process.
- Linking Competency to Training. Further a very important part of the process of competency based training is covered in this slide. It shows how Competencies are to be linked to the training process and plan. This is a good overview.
- How To Measure a Competency? This slide explores what criteria’s are considered for measuring a competency. It gives one a brief idea of the whole competency measurement process.
- Competency-Based Training and Career Development - Career Development Planning. The Third part explores the Competency -based Career Development process beginning with Job Analysis and Review Process, Career Development Philosophy, Career Development Initiatives and finally covering Individual Career Planning (or Employee Career development).
